Yesterday’s Midnight: Still At It!

Watch last night’s show and tell me what you think!

TITLE: What is this show?

Word of the Week: Not sure. “Uncertainty,” maybe.

Personal News: Normally I do this show on the Highs Below Zero YouTube channel, but today I put it on Auntie Grammar, because I am A/B testing and it turns out, I like being myself more than I like being a company. I have been trying to streamline and I am on my “Auntie Grammar” profile more than my HBZ one, so if that’s easiest, isn’t that what I should default to?

Bills, bills, bills.

Local Comedy News: Our show is next week. How did this happen? I need to advertise that show. But how???

Mike Fardy has a show coming out April 24! Album recording! He is one of the funniest people in Canada, I am sure of it. (I am also on this show. 2 shows, Matt Wright is Hosting the 9 o’clock show and I am hosting the 6. Who will be funnier, me or Matt Wright? Matt Wright famously lost the Junos twice, but I lost to him once, so I am legitimately a bigger comedy loser than Matt Wright, just facts. This is a weird way to say these guys are funny! They are very funny! St. John’s, at the Elk’s Club.)

Other News: Iran (still being bombed by US), Canada (re-militarizing), NDP convention

Show Goal: Talk about the 3 books on desk, look through last week’s journal, update “Writing Tracker”, “book” next week’s show; A Live Comic

Show Notes 1: The Blahs

Last week, “What is this show – ETHOS 1/6” premiered. Tonight, ETHOS part 2 comes out, along with a trailer for “How to talk to the Void.” Those were prepped last week, I think. [Later Vero note: I scrapped Ethos 2. Needs refining. Part 3/6 out next week, I guess]

What is this show? I keep meaning to do a blurb. “When the clock strikes Twelve, the Witch appears!” And I guess that’s me? In Newfoundland, we’re a half-hour off everyone else, so if you like talking to witches but can’t stay up past 12 and you live anywhere west of Halifax, this is the show for you. This is a productivity podcast for people trying to squeeze a few more workable hours out of the day.

Notes: I don’t really advertise this show. What’s the issue? I make some posts on FB, I have thought about posting to Gander, but I don’t actually talk do it. Because this “show” is really just a dumping ground for me and my ideas.

It’s not for anyone but me. But doesn’t that mean

Show Notes 2: The Books

I have these books. I have barely read them. Should I read any? Or put them away?

Book 1: Dirty Birds by Morgan Murray. Started reading, got about 5 pages in. Like the doodles, but it’s so many words.

Book 2: I used to love Archie Comics, this is old Archie – original Archie? It might be interesting to see some of the differences between then and now. Watched about 7 minutes of Archie’s Weird Mysteries this week. Terrible animation, not a great show.

Book 3: This is the one I have read the most of. It is a book of poetry. I have read more of it, but I do not always understand poems. I read one tonight called “weekend home in winter.” It is about an old house, drafty, peeling paint, fix-its instead of repairs. It is being warmed, by stove, by sun, by the bodies inside it. I like the poems in this book, but a poem is a puzzle I don’t always have the patience or desire to solve

Show Notes 3: The Pink Notes

A good guide.

Journal Notes: Feb 2 2026

Started making this video about “Why it’s hard to talk on camera”

Answer: I don’t know my audience

”Who Are You?”

Show Notes 4: Last Week’s Journal

To Do: Watch from 5-15 of last week’s show (yuck!)

DONE! I set a lot of goals and don’t follow through on them. What else is new?

PROMO: The Void is available for free if you can find it

Show Notes 5: A Live Comic

BETA TEST, NO BETAS BUT ME

”Who Are You?”

@veronicadymond
A comedian, a blob, a potato?

A blob

You have no shape. No form. No purpose. No muscles to move, no structure to remain upright.

Show Notes 6: MNLT

Watching 5 minutes. I talk a lot.

I talk about editing and organizing. I did a lot of that this week, in various capacities.

@6:40 – ad for IBSC

Show Notes 7: Those Books

I have too much on my plate, and I chose the book of poetry. Whose choice is that? The potato would have chosen the comic. The comedian would have chosen the novel. The blob chose the poetry. Shapeless, until you shape it.

Show Result: I accomplished the 3 tasks I set for myself, plus tasks assigned to me last week like “watch last week’s video” and “watch ethos 2.” I ended up not liking Ethos 2 and scrapped it. Ethos 3 next week.

Beta Test 1 of “A Live Comic.” Tester 1 (me) selected “the blob.” Follow the blob!

Set next week’s goal in journal. JUST 1.

Recommendation of the Week: Jack of Diamonds – The Abramson Singers – got a rec from someone on the new social media site Gander. I’m beta testing. Buggy as anything, but I like bugs, and I like the people on the app so far. I have listened to this song probably 20 times this week.

Questions of the Week:

What’s the issue with sharing?

“What’s the point?” is a question I keep hearing, in my head and in my life. I have trouble sharing my work because I don’t know the answer to that, necessarily. If there’s no point, why bother?

(I like the work, is my answer. But I guess some people don’t.)

Who Are You?

A comedian, a blob, or a potato?

Which book would YOU read?

I have my answer, and it demonstrated what kind of player I am. How about you?
